Watermelon is actually a vegetable, and is related to  cucumbers, pumpkins, and  squash!

In China and Japan, watermelons cost $25-35 apiece! They are often given as hostess gifts.

In China, watermelon are sometimes grown in glass boxes, taking the cube shape of the box.  They take up less room in the fridge, and they do not roll around!

Watermelon are 92% water.  It is an ideal health food because it doesn't contain any fat or cholesterol, is an excellent source of vitamins A, B6, and C, and contains fiber and potassium.

Over 4 billion pounds of watermelon are produced in the US each year!

Over 1,200 varieties of watermelon are grown worldwide!
