   PEN PALS WITH A CLASS IN SCOTLAND

POSTCARD EXCHANGES

We will continue our efforts to show support to our SD soldiers called to active duty by writing letters, making cards, and sending care packages.

To help finance these projects, several fundraisers may be held. Should you have any ideas about what we could do, or if you would like to help out in any way, please let us know. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Working together, we can help to make a difference!

Contact has been made with a teacher, Mrs. P., from Kirkintilloch, Scotland, and a very special new friend has been found! Kirkintilloch is about 15 minutes outside of Glasgow in central Scotland.  We will be writing to a class of 26 primary students from the school of Millersneuk.  Check back often to see all we are learning about Scotland, view our projects, and meet all our new friends!!

We will be communicating via e-mails and snail mail. Our communications will take the form of both individual and class letters, e-mail messages, and special project exchanges! 

This year, we are participating in two postcard exchanges!  One of them is being organized by the same teacher who organized our last year's exchange, and we are most grateful for all her hard work!  We entered our second exchange at the  request of its organizer, a teacher from Florida, who is trying to get one school from each state to participate.  When she saw that we were from SD, she specially asked us to represent our awesome state in her exchange! Many thanks to her, as well, for the invitation and for all her hard work organizing everything!!

Our postcard exchanges will be incorporated into a learning center where students will design a postcard and research information about SD for their postcard!  Should be a lot of creative and educational fun!!
